We do our very best to champion our students and staff members on a daily basis, but today is special for our transportation department.
And so on this day — National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day — we all give a loud THANK YOU to the men and women who play a vital role in ...ensuring the safety of our students on a daily basis. Whether it’s on the way to school, or on the way to a field trip, or on the way back home, or while taking students to evening activities (and the list goes on and on), we just want to let you know how much we appreciate you.
Mr. Becker and all of the bus drivers, you are amazing at what you do, and a part of what makes Gilbert CSD such a special place.

Playing golf yesterday, in that wind, could not have been much fun. And yet our girls golf team still put in the work to win another team title at Ames tournament held at Veenker Memorial Golf Course.
Veenker is such a difficult layout on a calm day. In that wind? Wow.
Our girls ...shot a 340 for an 18-shot victory over runner-up Ames. Eden Lohrbach was the individual medalist with an 81, with her twin sisters, Ava (83) and Ella (85) Lohrbach, in fifth- and ninth-place, respectively.
Haley Loonan carded a 91, Macy Underwood a 93, and Josie Dukes a 98.
Congrats, girls! #GilbertPride #TigersTogether
Yes, it was windy and, yes, at times it rained. But when the end result is a pair of team championships, it's hard to complain.
Our girls and boys track and field teams both captured the top spot in the team standings at last night's Bengal Coed Relays inside Tiger Stadium, and ...we were on hand to take plenty of photos.
Thank you so much to all of the volunteers who helped to make the meet run as smoothly as possible, and thank you to AD Ian Smith and Debbie Gray for doing such a great job of organizing things.
Here are some of the photos of our boys team.

DID YOU KNOW?
In addition to being a superstar principal, Mrs. Edwards is also an amateur beekeeper. As proof, she stopped by Mrs. Bresnahan’s kindergarten prep class today to share her knowledge of bees and the honey-making process with some of our students.
And let me tell ...you, she dropped some knowledge on the adults in the room too!
For example, she explained to the students how the color and taste of honey can differ depending on the source of the blossoms visited by the honey bees.
Students got the chance to try on a beekeeper’s outfit, look at a honeycomb, and they also had a chance to try some honey curated by Mrs. Edwards if they chose, as well as some other honey-flavored treats.
Mrs. Edwards, this was so much fun. Thanks for inviting us in to learn right along with our students.

Our high school theater department hosted the spring play Murder’s in the Heir, an audience interactive murder mystery-comedy on Friday and Saturday in the auditorium. Director Tiffany Nuckolls and the students put on a tremendous show.
It was such a fun experience for the audience to be... a part of the show. If you didn’t happen to catch it, here was the gist: Throughout the first act, audience members were asked to be thinking about who they think the culprit was, and at intermission votes were cast.
Throughout intermission, the votes were collected, tabulated, and then the second act played out based on who the audience chose to be the murderer. And a different character was picked for the Friday and Saturday shows.
Think about the work the students had to do for that, learning different endings, different lines, etc., and they pulled it off flawlessly.
Students, thank you for such a fun show. You all did so, so well.
